Purpose of this drilll is to move the ball out from a small, packed midfield to the wing positions, and from there switch the ball to the runner on the other wing to score. Cone out a small area in the centre of the pitch and place an even number of attackers and defenders in the middle. Two wingers should be outside of the area. The coach will feed the ball in the middle and the attackers must get the ball to either winger. Once the winger on one side receives the ball, the other winger must be alert and start making a run to receive a switched cross. The defenders in the middle can run back at this pint and defend.
