Activity to increase awareness of opponent position and changing levels of pressure from that opponent. Set out 4 cones in an area suitable for your players (approx 10mx10m). Six players (red) have a ball and must stay in this area whilst dribbling, performing tricks etc. One "hunter" (blue) must try to pressure the red players out of play or tackle them and pass or dribble the ball out of play. The red players are allowed to try and regain possession from the hunter but once the ball is out of play they must collect it and re-enter the play area. Every 60 seconds the hunter is rotated through the group until all player have had this role. Hunters should keep track of the amount of times they succeed and the hunter with the most sucesses wins.
Encourage players to use entire square, compliment them on successful tricks and skills even when not pressured to ensure they remain focused Variations: Add an additional hunter. This player could be a standard hunter or you could split the roles - one tackler and one cover - to encourage teamwork. Start with the hunter on the sidelines for the first 15 seconds. Ask them to observe and think of tactics for the players, then allow them to engage for the remaining 45 seconds.
