Each zone starts with a throw-in (anywhere on pitch). At least one player from each team, needs to be in a zone. Player receiving throw-in can dribble ball into next zone, where they have to stop and restart with a throw-in. Defending team can tackle and take ball from there. If in their attacking zone, can shoot without having to pass first. Else need to pass when moving into next zone. Progression to remove throw-ins. Then reduce/remove zones.
Encourages movement and use of space. 1v1s needed to progress up the pitch. Bravery on the ball to dribble to next zone. Technique to control from throw-ins and use balls momentum to progress up the pitch. Encourage progressive play and discourage negative play, particularly in own third.
