Overlap Passing Drill
Duration: 15 minutes Area: 2 cones approx. 5 - 10 m apart Equipment: 3 cones and one ball for each line of players Setup: 3 cones approx 15m apart (adjust for age/skill). 5 Players - 2 on each end, one in the middle The drill will cycle through the centre player receiving the ball 5-10 times (age/skill dependant). Once the centre player is complete, rotate the positions, so each player takes a turn in the centre. Before starting each step, provide a demo of what is expected. Instructions: Player with ball at one end will pass to the middle player to the left or right of the centre cone. Player that passed the ball will jog to the opposite cone, but will receive a pass back (from the middle player) and then will pass to the player on the opposite end. Coaching Hints: âCall for the ballâ â middle player needs to call for the ball before player sends. Watch the direction of the passing player to know where to send the ball
