DESCRIPTION

The diagram shown here depicts 2 different set up senario's that the 2016 Hinchinbrook Hornets U13's will adopt and utilise, the blue team will represent the kick chase or defensive side and the red team will represent the return kick or attacking side. DEFENSIVE TEAM When we are the team that is kicking off "the defending team", the most desirable area to kick too or aim for is the far right corner of the field otherwise known as " The Pocket " which is indicated by a red square box in the top right corner. to achieve that distance on the full is no easy task but once it can be constantly acheived the benefits for a defensive team is immense if played correctly. The objective when kicking into " The Pocket " is to stack that side of the defensive field with between 3 to 6 of the faster players so they can be down in that area quickly to keep pressure on the attacking team by niggling and hassling the opposition by combining an umbrella defence to keep them on that side of the field or in that Pocket area and fast defensive line speed on the ball carrier to force an era. The theory behind the "POCKET" defence is, the majority of people are right handed and therefore have difficulties passing from there Left to Right so based on that theory and with quick hassling defence our objective is to... A..force an era with bad pass or dropped ball B..contain them on that side of the field and prevent them from passing or running into open ground. C..not make much ground because there left to right 1 pass attack keeps getting forced towards the sideline by an umbrella defence adopt this tactic at training sessions to master and before or on gameday as a quick reminder before start of play
