DESCRIPTION

Players on the left start with a ball each. Going one player at a time they dribble out into the centre of the court where they meet the defender.

The defender should prevent them from moving across the court.

Before they get within arm's reach of the defender the attacking player should drive into the key where they have a shot.

COACHING POINTS

After each turn players join the back of the opposite line and the attacking player retrieves the ball and passes it to the defender who has now joined the back of the attacking line.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Pass and get past - Passing relay:

Player 1 passes to player 2. After passing player 1 sprints cross-court to the cone to try and screen player 3.

Player 3 needs to side-step and feint their way past player 1 before then running to the other side to receive the pass on the cone.

Player 3 then dribbles inside before passing to player 1 who has the shot.

Basic Ball Handling

Pass, Push off and shoot!:

Players pass to the player higher up the court on the wing and then run up to the cones where they're blocked by another player.

Players must wait for a second before then pushing off and running up the court for the return pass.

After receiving the ball back they run inside the key and perform a lay-up.

Shooting

Cone Dribbling:

Players take it in turns to dribble at the cone and then stop right in front of it and dribble all the way around the cone with controlled fingertip dribbles.

Once a full rotation has been completed then you move on to the next cone.
