Basketball: V Cut then lay up from the baseline

DESCRIPTION

Player on the baseline is a cutter and player on the top is a passer.

The cutter runs towards the key until one foot is inside the key then they change direction and move towards the ball. When they are free they must signal for the ball with their outside hand.

Once they receive the ball they can then square up towards the basket and go for a shot or drive for a lay up.

V Cut Drill:

Players make good V cuts, receive pass from player with ball, assume triple threat position. Everyone rotate one spot clockwise.

Shooting

V Cut high - with change of pace:

Player on top of the perimeter is a passer and player on the side is a cutter. The cutter runs towards the key until on foot is inside the key then they change direction and move towards the ball. When they are free they must signal for the ball with their outside hand.

Once they receive the ball they can then square up towards the basket and go for a shot or drive for a lay up.

Footwork and Movement

Variety of turns - Full Court:

Set up five cones on the court. The first player then runs up to the obstacle and does either a L-Cut, S-Cut, change of direction with turn before moving on to the next cone. The next player goes when the player has reached the first cone.

V Cut and Jump Shot:

Setup as shown.

Player 2 makes a V cut, receives the pass from player 1 before dribbling to the low post area. Player 2 then takes a pull up jump shot, with player 1 following the rebound.
