Football: Pinball

Very good interactive coaching drills.

DESCRIPTION

Team stay in own half, except for 2 players from each team who are put in the other section.

Each team shoots at earliest opportunity. Start the game with one ball and build it up to a number of balls.

The two players in the opposite half score from rebounds or interceptions.

COACHING POINTS

Land on the striking foot and keep head over the ball.

Strike the ball with your laces.

Soccer Cricket:

Make two teams of 6. The coach is the pitcher. He stands in a 5 x 5 yard area 10 yards from the wickets (5 cones in a row). Position one cone 10 yards from the wicket.

The pitcher passes the ball from the mound in the direction of the wickets (line of discs). The batter must kick the ball and then run around the base, back to the wickets. He must be ready to face the next pitch which is delivered as soon as the pitcher receives the ball, passed back from the outfield. The batter continues to bat until he is bowled out (the pitcher knocks down the wicket) or caught by an outfielder. Continue until all batters on the team are out.

Conditioned games

Crossing from Channel Players:

1) Only wide players allowed in channel.

2) A goal must come from a cross or direct result of a crossed ball.

3) Compete 5 v 5 in middle and limit to 2 touches. Wide players have unlimited touches.

4) Condition game and coach what you see.

Conditioned games

Overlap to Attack!:

Play across half a pitch. Each team must have 3 defenders and two centre forwards.

Players must follow their own passes forward, with the intention of overlapping to receive the return pass.
