Goalkeepers need to be comfortable making saves from distance. Especially when the ball could be moving in the air or dipping in front of the keeper, they need to adopt the correct technique to ensure the save is made.
What's in the Session?
Technique is so important when making saves from distance and this starts from positioning. Too far off their line and they are in danger of getting lobbed. Goalkeepers that get stuck on their line leave the angles open for strikers to capitalise.
We then focus on how the goalkeepers should be looking to parry the ball. If they have made the decision that they can’t catch the ball, they should be pushing the ball into a safe area and not in the danger zone.
