I have a batsman who has a habit of backing away to square leg when facing seamers. Are there any drills i can use for getting him in line?
Try placing a small object behind his feet (like a spare bat). Then if your players still backs away he'll step on the bat. You can start practising the movement without a bowler first and then progress the practice with a live bowler (start slowly!)
Another tip would be to try and stand on the balls of your feet (positive) rather than your heels (negative). This makes it easier to move forward.
Best of luck!
Yes agree with Alex... Include another, past his backfoot surrounding by small cons ,progress the practice forward defensive shot without receiving ball, after his initial confidence start with live ball slowly throwing by someone then increased the speed.Maximum invite him for drives towards offside and cut shot one of the blind ball bowled through the line ,Hope will face easier.Practice makes perfect..
just use the back & accros tecnique... and the bad habit removed autometicaly....practice it...initialy with bowling machine and after two weeks..with live bowler...keep doing..
