Athletics being the mother all sports to identify talented athlete without techniques you just have to watch his running technique like whether he is runninng rhythematically, see his hand eye cordination by giving him simple catches & whether he is atleast able to contact the ball when we feed him the ball.

Very True! good hand eye coordination is very critical. Body strength can be genrated but reflexes must be very sharp.
