Playing ball on the up

Playing ball on the up

My son is a top order batsmen but struggles to play the ball "on the up" ie. when he is not sure of playing on the front or back foot, is there any drills or coaching techniques that you can assist with?

The only advice I could give is that He should try to play different shots that what he may be comfortable with, to try different techniques.

One possible way of playing them is to advance more than normal, to take a couple of steps down the strip and then hammer a drive back down the track, or He could try playing some cuts and pulls to them and try and hit them over a fielder, the main thing I am saying really is that He could try to be more aggressive in his shots as it would allow him to score more runs, and it will make him more confident
