Almost all the shots you play that long or that go in the air can be played without the risk of being caught, all you need to try and do is to play the ball earlier and under your eyes and this will start guiding the ball downwards. You just need to try and make sure that you are playing the ball downwards and not just swiping or trying to hit the ball as hard as possible, let the ball come on to the bat and let the timing and the pace of the ball do the work.
