hello sir, I am a left handed batsmen I face problems in playing the ball of leg side and short pitch ball. so please tell me some tips for playing the ball of leg side and short pitch ball
Hi Coach,
Here are a couple of tips when playing the ball on leg side and to a short pitched ball.
For playing the ball on the leg side:
Position yourself correctly: Ensure that your head, shoulders, and front foot are aligned towards the leg side. This will allow you to get into a better position to play shots on that side.
Develop a strong bottom hand: Since you're a left-handed batsman, your bottom hand (right hand) will be your dominant hand when playing shots on the leg side. Work on developing strength and control in your bottom hand to play those shots with confidence.
Practice leg-side shots: Spend extra time practicing shots like the flick, pull, and sweep to improve your technique and timing on the leg side. Use drills and simulated match scenarios to replicate real-game situations.
For handling short-pitched deliveries:
Improve footwork: Having quick footwork is essential to handle short-pitched deliveries effectively. Work on getting into position quickly by either moving back and across or forward and across, depending on the line and length of the delivery.
Use the pull and hook shots: These shots are commonly employed against short-pitched deliveries. Practice these shots to improve your timing and technique. Focus on getting into a good position and keeping your eye on the ball.
Develop a strong defensive technique: Sometimes, the best response to a short-pitched ball is a solid defensive shot. Practice playing controlled defensive shots with a high elbow and a solid base to prevent the ball from hitting your wickets or catching edges.
Hope this helps.
