How to best use The middle of The court?
Hi Costel,
Using the middle of the court effectively in tennis is crucial for gaining control of points and putting pressure on your opponent. Here are some strategies and tips on how to utilize the middle of the court:
Control the Center:
Position yourself near the middle of the baseline to cut down angles and reduce the distance your opponent has to hit winners.
Try to force your opponent into hitting from wider angles, which can lead to errors or weaker shots.
Move Efficiently:
Work on your lateral movement to cover the middle of the court quickly. Anticipate your opponent's shots and position yourself accordingly to control the center.
Variety in Shots:
Use the middle of the court to set up your offensive shots. Once you have your opponent off-balance, you can then direct the ball to the open court.
Force Errors:
Hit deep and consistently to the middle to force errors from your opponent. This can be an effective way to break down their game.
Approach Shots:
When approaching the net, aim for the middle of the court to give yourself a higher percentage chance of closing out the point with a volley.
Mix Up Patterns:
Vary your shots to keep your opponent guessing. Sometimes hit cross-court, sometimes down the line, and occasionally aim for the middle. This unpredictability can make it challenging for your opponent to anticipate your next move.
Hope this helps.
