Handball: team games

Two equal teams play with one ball in half the court. Two players who are on neither team hold an elastic cord (or a spare bib/piece of material) to form a moving goal. These two players must run around the pitch, keeping the goal open (stretched out). The aim of the game for the other players is to score a goal into this moving goal through use of a bounce pass.

5 vs 5 game (can be played with or without goals).Game 1:Possession keeping game where all passing is with the hands by throwing and catching. Teams score a point for every 10 passes they make without losing the ball.Game 2:Alternatively you can play this game with goals. All passes must be made with the hands (players can't run with the ball in hand) and players can only score with a header.

A big ball is transported to the other side of the pitch by the whole team.

Two equal numbered teams play against each other with normal rules.The only additional rule is that at no stage may a team be ahead more then 1 goal. So at 1-0 the team who are ahead have to keep possession until the end of the game.Only if the opposition scores may they try to score again.Play this way with 5-10 minute games with regular break.

This game requires two or more teams. Both teams are trying to place the ball into the opposing team's hoop, however they are not allowed to run with the ball. On receiving the ball, the player must touch the ground first with the ball and pass it to a team-mate within 3 seconds.

Two teams (one per basket) play basketball using a handball and handball rules. Players are not allowed to walk while holding the ball, but dribbling is permitted. To score a point, the ball must be thrown upwards through the hoop from below, rather than from above.To make it more challenging:Players are not allowed to dribble.The ball cannot be passed back to the player you received it from.Passes must be made using a bounce pass.Passes must be made with the 'wrong' hand.Passes must be made with both hands.

Playing inside half a court with a large mat in the center players try to press the ball onto the mat in order to score a point for their team. After scoring the ball must be played to a player on the opposite team on the side line and then start the attack again ( quick throw off imitation).

Play a normal full pitch game with the following condition:One attacker on both teams must stay in the offensive half of the pitch at all times.This will result in a one man overload when teams are attacking and will promote fast breaks.

Blue team tries to pass 10 times without losing or dropping the ball. Defending team try to prevent this and try to intercept and disturb passing. Once the ball drops or is intercepted they can have a try.

Playing inside half a court at both sides there is a coned area about 2 meters deep. Each team must attack the other team's zone whilst defending their own. Aim of the game : To try and bring the ball into the 'enemy' zone and make a try.

Two teams with an equal amount of balls stand inside their own area. On the coach's call the teams start throwing the balls at the other team (below waist height - players are not trying to hurt one another). When the trainer whistles again the balls are counted. The team that has least balls in their area wins a point.

All players except for two defenders are dribbling inside a half-court area. The two defenders start tagging the other players. Once tagged players must put their ball aside and help the taggers. The last player dribbling is the winner.

The castle (a gymnastics mat or bench) is defended by a goal keeper and his knights (the white team). The blue attackers try to bomb the castle by throwing the ball at the bench / mat.

This is a game which requires two teams of 4 (in the diagram two games are being played simultaneously). Two teams of three play inside the area, with one player from each team on the outside. The teams inside should pass around so that everybody inside the area touches the ball at least once. Once everyone on a team has touched the ball they should then try to pass to the player outside the area. If they do this they score 1 point. If they receive the return pass from the player they receive another 1 point.

Player across a half court with two teams. Both teams need to defend their 3 hoops whilst trying put their ball into one of their opposition's hoops. After scoring there is a change of possession.

In this game there are more attackers than defenders. The aim for the attackers is to dribble from one line to the other without being dispossessed. Every time they successfully do this they score a point for their team. After a player is tackled they may retrieve their ball but they will not score a point on that turn. Each team has 10 runs before you the teams are changed. The team who scored the most runs is the winning side.

Two hoops are attached to the top corners of both goals with ropes. A small mat is placed on the goal line. The playersgroup is divided into two teams. The objective of this game is to throw the ball onto the ground in such a way that it either bounces onto the opponent’s mat or passes through one of the hoops.The teams play according to handball rules.A point is awarded if the ball bounces onto the opponent’s mat.Two points are awarded if the ball bounces through a hoop.No one is allowed to enter the circle around the goal.To make it more challenging:<br>Only bounce passes are allowed when crossing the playing field.At least three players from the team must have touched the ball before a point can be scored.Multiple (different) balls can be used in the game.Variations:<br>Play with one goal. Playing inside a restricted area (inside the 6 or 9 metre line) two small teams try and keep possession of the ball for as long as possible. The defending side should have more players than the attacking side.

Two teams stand at opposite ends of the area, each player has a ball, with a line of cones along the middle. Standing at a distance from the cones (increase/ decrease distance dependant on players' ages) players take it in turns to throw and aim at the cones. Each cone that a player hits is a point for their team. Once all the cones have been hit the team with the most points is the winner.

Mini game of bench ball (played in a smaller area than 1 third of the court), with 1 ball in a 3v3. Players score a point for their side every time they hit the opposition's bench. Players must pass the ball around inside their own half in order to create space for the shot at their opponent's bench.
