Advanced progression of Returning drills

Player 1 hits a serve, with player 2  trying to return between the baseline and the Throw Down Line (lines are placed according to player's level).

Serve and Return

Doubles interception

The deep players rally the ball back and forth between one another. The blue receiver's partner attempts to intercept the ball down the middle. Once the ball has been intercepted the point is live. The players rotate clockwise round the court after 6-8 rallies so that each player gets to play in each position.

-Player 2 starts with a second serve to advantage court.-Returner hits a lob return over player 1s head and follows it into the net.-Player 2 chases the lob and returns it down the line.-Player 1 moves to hot seat in the middle.-Returner hits cross court volley to player 1.-Player 2 comes to net and the point is played out.-The same drill can be repeated on the deuce side of the court.

-Players are positioned in a doubles formation as seen in the picture. -The server will serve first and second serves as in a game situation.-The receiver will hit any of the returns as shown in the picture.-The players can play out the points after the return.-After approximately 6-10 serves the players swop round so that each player gets to serve and return and from both sides.

-Players start in regular doubles positions.-The service is hit down the centre and the return diagonally.-Servers are given up to 4 attempts to get the ball in.-The net player attempts to intercept the return and kill it down the middle.

Drill Set-Up:Players start off in doubles alley (backhand corner) and moves along baseline hitting 2 forehands.Topic of Empahsis:As players move sideways they must take last step towards ball at contact.Variation:Players can hit 3 shots.Players can alternate the direction of the balls.

Volleys whilst moving as a team

-Players hit 2 half volleys each aiming at the targets, then move to alternate line.-All players in line shadow move behind hitters.-The same can be done with players at the net volleying.

Bluff Doubles Game Doubles Dri...

Players are effectively playing a game of touch-doubles, so the ball is fed in and the point played out within the service boxes, with the tramlines being out.Players must use touch and feel as no pace or power can be use to win the point. They can volley and the ball is allowed to bounce as in normal tennis.However, each player only has to look after their own service box quarter. Balls which land in their zone are the only ones they are responsible for retrieving. If they so wish, they can poach and intercept balls in the other players' box, but the player next to them is not going to cover their back and switch sides as in normal doubles.

The Wall Doubles Drills - Tenn...

4 players 2 at the net and 2 at the baseline. Coach feeds the ball in to the baseliners and the point is played out. The volleyers can hit anywhere, however the baseliners cannot hit to the same volleyer twice in a row. After 2 volleys the baseliners are then allowed to lob. The winner is the first team to 11 points, after this the teams swap over.

Set up cones coach side on an angle, near the transverse line and doubles alley.Player stands on the deuce side.Coach feeds the balls to the middle of the court.Player executes backhand slice angle cross-court aiming for the cones.

<BR>-Player serves to deuce court towards feeder and comes to the net.<BR>-The first player on the advantage side shadows the server and comes to net.<br>-Feeder hits a ball to server who returns it cross court.<br>-Feeder hits towards server again but the shadow server intercepts and hits cross-court winner.

The player stands close to the net on the deuce side. The coach feeds diagonal ball to the ad side. The player then sprints across the centre and hits a backhand stop volley cross-court.

The player feeds high ball to coach who stands at the net. The coach hits overhead to the ad side and the player tries to counter this shot using backhand topspin lob down the line.

The player serves wide to the deuce side and the coach feeds short ball to deuce side. The player hits deep forehand approach shot cross-court and comes to the net. The coach feeds another ball to deuce side and the player finishes with forehand volley cross-court.

Players are playing doubles points from the hand in pairs.The pair who wins the point moves to the service line which is their starting position for the next point. Should they win the point from this starting position, players score 1 point and get to stay where there are. Should they lose the point from starting on the service line, they must move back to the baseline.

Players work together in pairs, each pair using the double service box as their area and with rackets not needed.Pairs start by standing facing each other and holding hands with their left hand as if shaking hands.With one ball between 2 players, players 'rally' by patting the ball to each other using their linked arms as the net.Pairs are working co-operatively to see who can get the longest rally.Players must keep their feet moving to get in the right position for each 'shot', dancing around the ball with adjustment steps whilst still staying linked to their partner.The pair with the longest rally after 5 minutes wins. After this pairs swap hands to attempt this with their non playing hand.</div>

Coach feeds the ball from the backhand side of the court in no mans land.<BR>The first feed is for a smash and the second one is for a volley then one more smash and the player moves to the back of the queue and the next player touches the net with their racket.

Round the World 2 Coordination...

<BR>-Pick two teams, one team are the hitters, the other the runners.<BR>-The hitters take it in turns to hit the ball over the net, back to the feeder or to a designated area.The coach has to choose the target according to players level of ability. <BR>-The team scores a point each time a shot is hit to the agreed target.<BR>-The runners take it in turn to run around the outside of the court, back to the team like relay race.<BR>-Once all of the running team have done a round they shout stop, and the points of the hitting team freeze.<BR>-The teams then swap sides and the new hitting team has to beat their score.

<BR>-The game has two teams of four players each.<BR>-Each team consists of two lobbers and two smashers.The smashers must stand in their respective service courts.<BR>-Points are scored every time a lob falls between the base line and the service line.The baseliners must hit the ball after one bounce. Points are lost as in normal tennis.<BR>-First team to 5 wins.<BR>-The baseliners and the smashers swop over for the next game.
