Backhand Variety

Coach feeds balls to the backhand side. Player alternates backhand drive and backhand slice in cross court direction.

Backhand Drills

Backswing Loop

The coach stands next to the player and keeps their racquet in a horizontal position. The player moves their racquet over and under the coach's racquet to imitate a forehand stroke.

Forehand Drills

Centre Mix

Coach and player rally together. Coach hits different balls (left, right, high, low). Player responds with volleys/overheads to the centre.

Volley Drills

Comfortable New Grip

Player inserts a pen between the hand and the racquet's grip. Player imitates forehand without changing a grip. In this exercise, the pen is a valuable tool that will do all the work for the coach. Every time the player tries to change the grip to the old one, they will feel it because of the pen. After imitating, the coach should toss or feed balls to challenge players at the early stages of grip's change.

Deuce Wide And Forehand Down Line

Player serves from the deuce side and delivers a wide serve, in between the cones. The coach will then hit the ball back cross-court, where the player finishes with a forehand down the line, aiming between the cones that are down the line.

Forehand to Catch

Drill takes place within the service box on each side of the net. Coach feeds the ball underarm with one bounce to the player. The player returns the ball with a forehand for the coach to catch directly or with one bounce before catching. Coach feeds again varying the feed to make use of all the service box. Drill continues.

Coach feeds random balls and the player must hit all of the these balls cross court in between the target cones.

Ripping it!

The coach feeds each player 5 easy balls anywhere inside the service boxes. The player must 'rip' every single ball, with 100% intensity, swinging freely and keeping the racquet head speed fast through each and every ball. These are 'put away' balls, the last shot of a rally and must be buried into the court to give the opponent no chance of getting to it.

Players work together in pairs, each pair using the double service box as their area and with rackets not needed.Pairs start by standing facing each other and holding hands with their left hand as if shaking hands.With one ball between 2 players, players 'rally' by patting the ball to each other using their linked arms as the net.Pairs are working co-operatively to see who can get the longest rally.Players must keep their feet moving to get in the right position for each 'shot', dancing around the ball with adjustment steps whilst still staying linked to their partner.The pair with the longest rally after 5 minutes wins. After this pairs swap hands to attempt this with their non playing hand.</div>

De forehand topspin is een belangrijke aanvallende slag in het tafeltennisspel. De houding verschilt van de basishouding. (Wanneer het technisch beleid binnen een vereniging uitgaaat van forehand contra als eerste slag, dan is dat een verder zelf in te vullen alternatief).<BR><BR>Houding:<BR>De voeten staan iets verder uit elkaar.<BR>Het linkerbeen zijwaarts voor.<BR>De slagkant open aan het begin, gesloten op moment van raken.<BR><BR>Bewegingsverloop forehand topspin:<BR>De armbeweging gaat van laag (schuin) achter (met bijna gestrekte arm) naar voor hoog.<BR>De benen strekken.<BR>Het moment van raken is op de hootgte van de tafel.

The coach feeds lob into the air for the player to hit back using the backhand smash. The player hits the smash down the line and joins the back of the line.

Players play the point out from their hand in a full court as normal.If they win the point with a clear winner or by forcing an error from their opponent they get plus 1 point. However, if they make an unforced error of any kind, they get minus 1 point.Players can play until 1 player reaches plus or minus 7 points.

The coach stands on the service line (ad side), and the player starts from the baseline. The coach serves to the T, so that the players hits a forehand return cross-court. After successful hit into the zone, the player moves forward between service line and baseline, and hits another return. After successful hit into the zone, the player moves forward to the service line to execute another return.

Five Alive Coordination / Fun ...

Separate the whole group into teams of around 5-6. Each team nominates a player to feed first. When ready the feeder throws the ball to each player consecutively until the team has caught 5 balls. The team getting to 5 first shouts Five Alive and win the first point. A new feeder is selected by each team, and the next round begins.

Donkey Coordination / Fun Game...

Players hit one ball before running round the court to the other end. Each player gets 3 lives and loses one if they make a mistake, or fail to get into position on time. Alternatively players can collect letters for each mistake they make until they spell a work (like donkey). The winner is the one left standing. The coach can state at any time for the players to change direction in the way they are running around the court, even mid rally!

Player 1 is serving and will play a sequence of 4 points against player 2 as follows:Serving from the deuce court player 1 must serve wide. Player 2 must return the shot to player 1's forehand side.<br /><br />Serving from the deuce court player 1 must serve inside. Player 2 must return the shot to player 1's backhand side.<br /><br />Serving from the advantage court player 1 must serve inside to player 2 who must return the ball to player 1's forehand corner.<br /><br />Serving from the advantage court player 1 must serve wide to player 2 who must return the ball to player 1's backhand side.</div>

The idea of the game is to kick the ball over the middle team and try to land the ball in the oppositions area. If the ball is caught then no points are scored, if the ball bounces in the oppositions area then 1 point is scored. If one of the players in the middle catches the ball (they gain 1 point) then they swap positions with the team that kicked the ball.

Players feed the ball in from hand and rally up and down the middle of the court.At any time, player 1 can choose to hit a shot that will bring player 2 forward to the net. This shot must be hit inside the service box and can be a short slice or dropshot.The point is then live from the next ball. Players play first to 7 before switching roles.
