Scott James Coach, Canada

DESCRIPTION

A1 receives ball as light pressure is applied from C1. A1 passes right (D), moves left (B) . C1 goes to end of line A and A1 to end of line B. Drill continues...D1 passes right to line C as pressure from B is applied, D1 moves left to line A and B1 moves to end of line D. Continue with pass right, move left pattern as pressure is applied from line opposite the receiver of pass. Progression - once they develop a flow and rythm allow defender to force the ball to whichever side they want (so passer must decide which side...not always pass right move left).

COACHING POINTS

Coaching Points Press the ball/girl opposite you, stay on toes, move forward Close space quickly but slow down as you get close to ball (be in control) Don't angle too much or move too much to one side when you shut down the ball or player can go striaght by you. As defender forces the pass to one side it gives a cue for which defender can press next based on where the ball will be going. Anticipate direction of pass so second defender (next line to pressure) can go quickly.
