Place three poles in the middle of the players. The purpose of this drill is for the defence to act as an angled unit, rather than a flat line. This drill can be done both sides of the cones. When a number is called, the player with that number must run full pace to the pole, with the other two players running full speed to form defensive cover. The other two players must drop back and shift over accordingly to provide cover to the furthestmost defender. High intensity running. On returning back to the start, the players must either run backwards or in a sideways defensive stance.
