DESCRIPTION

10 players Time: 10 minutes Equipment: 24 flat disks or 6 flat disks and 18 cones, 10 bibs - 5 each of two different colours, minimum 3 footballs, 2 goals In this drill, the players are split into 2 teams. One team is set up with 2 defenders in their defensive 3rd, 2 midfielders in the middle 3rd and 1 striker in the attacking 3rd. This team starts with the ball, each possession. They must play in to the striker before they are able to score, their aim is to score as many goals as possible. The opposing team is the pressing team and the focus team. This team has no positional restrictions apart from having a goalkeeper. Their aim is to win the ball back and score as many goals as possible. The teams will swap roles half way through the practice.

COACHING POINTS

Being compact and forcing one way Structure of the press - closest player goes to the ball, closing down the next best option and keeping compact so the ball can't be played to the striker Recognising triggers These will be delivered throughout. The first point when explaining the drill, the second will be delivered through a coaching process. The third will be delivered during the game following this drill.
