Set up 3 to 5 balls around the edge of the area and a cone around 3 meters outside the D. Player 1 starts at the cone, runs to ball 1 and shoots to score, turns, sprints around the cone and returns to hit ball 2, repeat with ball 3, 4 & 5. Time the player to add an element of competition. They will be out of puff after this drill, they should count the goals scored and how quickly they got through it.
Hitting the target is paramount. Both feet should be used when shooting, try to promote it. Looking for high energy levels with good clean shots, especially near the end of the drill. Make it easier: Move the balls closer. Remove the keeper (ball must not bounce before hitting net) Shorter sprint to cone. Make it harder by: Moving the cone back. Giving a set time to finish (around 45-60 seconds is target times) Changing the ball layout.
