Basketball: Dribble Weave Game

DESCRIPTION

Players in a line about 5-10 ft away from each other.

The 1st player with the ball will dribble weave in and out of every one in the line. Once they get back to their original spot they will pass the ball to the person behind them.

The rule is that you must go around everyone to get back to your spot.

COACHING POINTS

Once the last player has got to their original spot the game is finished.

This game can be played with multiple lines, a great game for large groups.

Get your young players enjoying basketball in this fun session that will keep them interested and improve their skills.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Cat and Mouse:

Set up two wide cones with 2 teams facing each other.

Both teams are going in the same direction around the cones.

The goal is to catch up with the other team to tag or over take them. The team that does this is the winner.

Each player will complete a full circle around both cones before passing to the next player.

Games

Cross Over Relay:

Same principle as normal relays, but now the players have to run across avoiding the other team. If this goes well, introduce another 1 or 2 balls in each team.
IMPORTANT that all players keep head up and do not run too fast.
