DESCRIPTION

The third step to teaching a lay up.

From the right side the player takes a step with their right foot and then continues with step 2 followed by step one.

On the left side, it should be one step with the left, then the right.

Lay up step 2 - One step lay up:

This is the 2nd step to teaching a lay up.

From the right side (as in the example) player takes one step forward with their left foot and then drives the right knee up (as if their elbow and knee were attached with a piece of string) to finish the lay up they aim for the little black square on the backboard, as in step one.

Shooting Techniques

Lay up step 1 - Inner corner shooting:

This is the first step to teaching a lay -up.

Using the correct shooting teachnique players must aim to hit the top corner of the little black square on the backboard. If they are standing on the right side, this will be the right corner, on the left, the left corner.

Shooting Techniques

Continuous Rebound:

Players line up on 3 point line.Throw ball against the backboard and roll away.

Next player jumps to take the rebound and throws it against the backboard again for the next player.

Players must jump then catch and release the ball before they hit the ground.

Rebound

3 v 3:

Split the class into groups of 6. With 3 defenders and 3 attackers. One team starts with the ball and is attacking the basket, with the other team defending. If the defenders get the ball then the roles are reversed.
