Designed for groups large and small, this session works on more than simply getting players to strike the stumps with the ball for a run out - it also aims to develop and improve players' overarm throwing technique, improving consistency and confidence to ensure the ball reaches its intended target - whether that target be the stumps or a team-mate!
By practising these throwing exercises in training you can help players to remain focused, and not panic, when looking for the run out!
To get this session off to a flying start we start with a pairs throwing exercise, getting players to focus on their technique (strong throwing base, front arm aiming at the target and holding the ball along the seam) before introducing the stumps - starting with a low pressure throwing exercise and gradually increasing the intensity to truly test your players' throwing accuracy!
