DESCRIPTION

White players must try to hit the last player of the 'dragon' (the four blue players in the middle are the dragon).

Players in the dragon hold each other's hips or shoulders and try to avoid the ball.

In order to hit the back of the dragon the white players must pass the ball quickly around the circle. The ball is not allowed to travel further than one player at a time.

COACHING POINTS

Are they catching the ball correctly?

Reach for the ball, arms half stretched out, make a W with your thumbs almost touching each other.

Catch the ball and move it towards your body.

PROGRESSION

1. Ball can go into any direction and may be passed to anyone in the circle.

2. One or two defenders can be added to disturb ball ways.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Running and Passing:

Pairs move to and away from each other and move in to each other while passing.

They should try to receive passes while moving towards the ball and also while retreating, working on receiving the ball while running in different directions and passing to moving players.

Pass B1-B2-B2 and goalshot.

Passing and receiving in motion. After the goalshot the left and right backcourtplayer change positions.

Center Shot Relay:

Both sides line up facing one another, with the ball starting on opposite sides.

The player who starts with the ball throws to the player opposite them who then returns the ball. They then throw the second player on the opposite side who also returns the ball. Finally they throw the ball across to the third player on the opposite side who then returns the ball.

center shot with defenders:

B1,B2 and B3 throw just along side their defenders after passing with them first.

Attackers should always be in a forward motion when reveiving the pass.

The rather passive defender only shows the attacker where to throw : defender has hands high --> attacker should decide for a shot at hip of knee height. Defender has hands low --> attacket decedis to throw with a high shoulder height center shot or running shot.
