Handball: 3:2:1 Defending 2 Pivots

The blue players are trying to pass the ball through to the pivot (white 1).

At the same time though the red players are working hard to block this pass.

The aim for the red players is to run forward and touch their back court player before running back quickly to defend any passes to the pivot.

After they have been touched blue players pass the ball to a player in the opposite line and they then run to the back of the other line.

Drill continues in this way.

Pass 3-2-4 and pass to incoming 5.
Aim of the game is defend the incoming 5 wing player.

Blue 1 : steps a bit forward and accompanies/touching attacker 5.
Blue 4 takes over and brings wing 5 to center defender blue 1.
Defender blue 2 and 3 step forward to their own attackers .

Blue players 1, 2 and 3 stand in a line with a supply of ball to try and feed to blue player 4.

The defending player (Red 1) must stay in front of the receiving player and mirror their movement across the court, preventing as many balls as possible from reaching blue player 4.

The receiving player must change pace and direction in order to lose their marker but they are not allowed to step in front of the defender.

The blue players must pass the ball between themselves with the intention of stretching the defenders as much as possible.

When the center left two attacking players have the ball (blue 4 and 3) the first defender (red 1) covers the space.When the center right two players have the ball (blue 3 and 5) it is the second defender's (red 2) responsibility to cover the space.

The defender who is not immediately defending should shuffle over to make sure that the defence is not leaving large gaps.

The outlets are the left wing and right wings where the defenders can not go.
