DESCRIPTION

The inside team (white) pass the ball around the outside of the small square.

At the same time the blue team on the large square are running a relay around the the outside square.

COACHING POINTS

How many passes can the passing team pass the ball around the square in the time it takes the relay team to complete 8 runs?

Swap team and repeat roles vice-versa.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Cross over relays:

Same principle as the straight relays, but players have to run diagonally across avoiding the other team.

It is that all players keep their heads up and do not run so fast that it causes them to lose control of the ball.

Dribbling Players v Runners:

On the command the player with the ball runs around the blue cones, with the player without a ball running around the red cones. It is a race to see the first one back.

Get rid of balls:

2 teams. Both teams have to try and take all the balls from their goal and put them in the other teams goal. Each team should only stay on their side of the line of cones (one ball per player at any time).

Confusion:

To improve running with the ball and changing direction players have to run around the cones creating a figure of eight as they go around the centre cone before then running out and around the outer blue cone.

Players must dribble forehand around the middle cone and then reverse the stick around the outside cone.
