What are the roles of blockers? Can you use them in a 3-2-3-2 formation?
Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
Hi Derek,
By the term `Blockers`, I assume you`re talking about defensive midfielders/screen players to offer cover?
In the 3-2-3-2 position, the two in front of the defence have a role to stay quite zonal, blocking any passing route from the oppositions defence to their forwards. Rather than man-marking, where they can be dragged out of position to create the passing channels, they are to stay quite rigid in the position, passing men on when they come and go into their zones.
They can also be used in a 4-2-3-1 formation with the same idea, blocking the gaps between the three midfield/forward players. The same tactic can be used in a 4-1-2-3 formation.
I hope this is what you had in mind and helps your team!
