I am the sweeper and i need tips on how to setup the "backs" to basically force them to use zonal marking. But the problem is they commit to easily, How do I solve this?
Get your defenders and Defensive Midfielders to set up a W press. This way they are forced to stay in their formation as opposed to marking a man. Encourage them to take notice of the shape. The first person that forgets lets the whole shape disolve. When in this formation let the attacker come to your formation (instead of attacking theirs) this way the defenders will not have to chase soo much to shut down and squeeze them to the top again.
2 defenders at the back can hold this together with reasonable amount of discipline. Hope this helps.
