Hi - Im just put together My pre season Fitness that will do 2 training sessions per week 1 session on Plometrics & Core Strength 2 Session will be anerobic and cardo This will be for a full 6 weeks Plan.
First design a general conditioning program working on flexability, core strength, and general excerises for the players to do before every training and practise session. Eg 20 push ups, 50 dry tackles lunges, 30 sit ups, 1 min bridges, 30 half squats, etc. These exercises should take no more than five minutes to complete in total and over time should be completed at a quicker pace. Ensure they are completed correctly and no short cuts are taken. For fitness work I have found Fartlex training very effective in building endurance and speed over a short period of time and maintaning it for a long period. Eg start with a 50 yard sprint @ 70% max pace then 50 yards @ 20%, then 100 yards at 70% and 100 yards @ 20%, then 150 yards at 70% and 150 at 20% and then back to 50 yards cycle again. Repeat continous for 4-5 km to start with. Over time increase the distance and the max pace % and then the lower pace %. This is not easy to do. Program. Work one session of Fartlex training in with one session of a long slow run for approximalety 1 hour (distance travelled not relevant), one session of a fast times 6 km run and one session of interval/sprint training, in that order. Rest and game day. Hope this helps.
Lorraine from South Africa. I am in the process of writing a general pre to full season weekly fitness program that my premier league girls do and it is fun and work like a gem for basic game fitness
