hi. i recently started playing hockey again after 7 years and looking for drills me and my brother can do to help get my technique back. like first touch and shooting dribbling etc. i am a striker
Hi Owen,
Great to hear you're getting back into hockey. There are some great drills in the Passing and Receiving section that are perfect to help you get your touch back to receive the pass and set yourself up for a shot. The Escape the Grid drill is perfect for you to work on your first touch when in a tight areas, mirroring the types of areas you would receive the ball in a game as a striker. Instead of having defenders around the grid, create gates to aim for with your first touch.
Once you've started to get comfortable on the ball again, why not go into some shooting/goalscoring practices. Creating 2 V 1 drill is perfect for you to get back into game play scenarios, emphasising your first touch, dribbling, passing and shooting all in one drill. As there is only two of you, how about putting some obstacles in the way to act as defenders instead? With a pretty high chance of getting a shot off with each rep, you will have plenty of opportunity to focus on technique.
I hope this helps and you're soon back up to speed!
Good Luck!
Tom
