Michael, a variation we use for the backs (but could use with forwards too) is to line them up in an attacking line. The coach makes calls in any order they feel like; - lost ball - quickly re-align as a defensive line on fly-half. - Left/right - Forwards/backwards - Kick over - re-align to support full back - Turnover - re-align into attacking line We speed this up as the drill progresses and encourage players to check alignment constantly on both sides, calling colleagues up/back as needed.
