Fullback{15}

What is the role of a fullback during a rugby game and how can he try to read the game

Hi Breezy,

The fullback is such an important position in both attack and defence.

The fullback's role includes but not limited to marshalling the defence from the backfield, covering kicks, returning kicks, being confident under the high ball, filling into the backline in attack with penetrative running lines and slick handling, being able to counter and run out from the back with pace and agility.

An easy way for a player to improve their reading of the game is to simply watch and play more rugby. Whether that be live, on television, YouTube clips to provide them with a better understanding of tactics, positioning and general decision making in certain scenarios.

Hope this helps.
