How many tacklers are allowed in U10s rugby?

There is nothing to prevent another tackler joining in the U10 NRoP regulations.  If the tackled player is still on his feet when the second player joins the tackle this becomes a maul.

is it ok tho if the second tackler or even third in some cases join the tackle not for the purpose of a maul as this is not allowed at this age but to take the player down to the ground as some of my players are smaller than most 10yr olds they need more than one tackler.

A maul is allowed under RFU U10 NRoP. It is defined in regulation

6.b)

"A "maul" is formed when the ball carrier and tackler are joined by one additional player from either the defending or attacking team. No more than two players from either side (including the ball carrier and tackler) can be involved in the maul."

Also 6.k) says

"When a maul is formed the ball must be made available within 5 seconds. The referee should call "Use it" and the ball should be moved away from the contact area. If neither team can pass the ball away, a scrum should be awarded to the defending team."

You can`t have more than 2 players from each side in the maul.

If as the second tackler comes in, they don`t take the BC to ground, call a maul. If other defending players look like they are about to join in, call "Numbers [Team A]" to stop them infringing. From the moment you call maul the BC only has 5 seconds to get to ground or offload to a team mate.

It is this last bit that prevents someone who can`t be tacked by two players from rumbling the whole length of the field :)

We run off WRU pathways rules in Wales which states U/10s

• Tackle must be below the waist, more than one tackler allowed
• No ripping the ball
• Only 1 player from each side allowed to contest for the ball at the breakdown, this includes people involved in the tackle
• Non contested scrums, side putting in wins ball, no pushing or wheeling
• Scrum half not allowed to pass centre line of scrum
• Scrum half must pass ball from base of scrum
• No lineout or mauls
• Re starts free pass from halfway
• No handoff allowed
• Kicking of ball only allowed in own 22

Thank you for your response Antony but our rules are different with regards to mauls that's why i wanted to see if we can have more tacklers on larger player to get the ball grounded.

For U10's it looks like is very clear, unless I am missing something, you can have as many tacklers as you like.

Sorry, should have noticed that the question asker was in Wales :)

The only bit that seems to muddy the waters slightly is this line:

"Only 1 player from each side allowed to contest for the ball at the breakdown, this includes people involved in the tackle"

But for me that would seem to refer to what occurs after the tackle is made.

Hopefully someone with more experience of the Welsh regs will confirm this for you.
