Rounders: Spot Hits - Batting ...

Set up in groups of 5.3 different coloured spots are placed in a triangle in front of the batter, with 3 fielders placed directly in line with the spots about 5m away.Player 3 bowls a tennis ball to player 1 who tries to hit the ball with their hand to players 2, 3, and 4.Group rotates after 3 hits i.e 1 to 5, 5 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 1.

Rounders: Batting Technique - ...

Players work in fours with one batter, one bowler and two fielders. The basic structure of this drill is that the ball is bowled to the batter who has to try and hit the ball. To improve hand-eye coordination there are 3 stages to this drill. Firstly the batting player should hit the ball with their hand (or yellow hand CP where available), then with a paddle bat and lastly a rounders bat.

When the ball is hit behind the line the batter is allowed to run to the 1st post but is not allowed to continue to 2nd until the ball has crossed the line back into play. It is best that the backstop retrieves the ball and walks it back instead of throwing it back into play.

Mark out a 12m track with cones.Players work in 3's with 1 hoop. Each player stands 2m apart.Player A hits the soft ball with their hand through the hoop (held by B) to C. This continues with all players moving positions i.e. C hits through hoop held by A to B until they reach the end of the 12m track.Repeat drill on return.

The only criteria is that the ball has top enter the front of the area to be able to score a rounder. The rest of the fielders can stand where they like.This game start with a bowl to the hands of the first <em>batting </em>player. The batting player should stand with open hands and catch the ball before throwing it into the fielding area.After throwing the ball out the batting player runs around as many bases as they can.Rules:Players score a point for their team for every complete run they make. Players can be caught or run out in the normal manner.Each player has two goes each before the teams swap around.

Set up:4 posts are set up in the shape of a diamond. Each post being 9 metres from the centre of the diamond.You need 3 teams of 4, 4 bats and 1 ball.Batting team each stand at a post. The other 2 teams take the bowler and fielding roles.<hr />The Drill:The bowler decides who to bowl to first, and the remaining 3 batters stand behind the post and make contact with it.The bowler bowls the ball for the batter to hit. The fielders can field the ball into any post to get any of the batters out.If a batter is out then their team loses 4 points. 1 point is scored for every post a batter reaches.Each team of 4 faces 6 good balls and the score is added up. After each ball the bowler can decide which batter to bowl to (it can be any of the 4 batters). The fielding team must react and move position, depending on which batter the bowler is bowling to.After 6 good balls the next team goes into bat.

On hearing this call player A self feeds the ball and hits it safely into space.Whoever reaches the ball first is the next player to hit the ball.If you get to the ball 3 times in a row you win a point.

Four players working with 1 ball and 1 bat. One of the 3 players throws the ball at the batter who has to tap the ball back to any of the 3 players so they can catch the ball and throw the ball back again.

This is a hit throw and follow exercise. One player by each post and one deep fielder. The rest of the players stand behind the line waiting their turn to bat. One player starts the practice by hitting the ball towards the deep fielder. The deep fielder has to catch or gather the ball and throw the ball to the nearest post player who has to touch the post with the ball after which the post player throws the ball back to the next player in the batting square. Rotation the player that hit the ball runs anywhere into the field to be the next target. the previous fielder has to run to the post they threw the ball to and the post player goes to the back of the line of waiting players.

Divide your players into two equal teams, one team fields while the other team bats.The coach bowls the ball (underarm) to the batter who must catch the ball before then underarm throwing the ball into the field, instead of hitting the ball.If a batter drops the ball they can only run to first base.In order to get players out the batters can be stumped or caught out.

Players stand in teams behind their cone, with a ball each.When the coach says 'Go' each player rolls their ball out diagonally, through the cones nearest their starting position.After rolling out their own ball (along the ground) players must sprint out and collect the ball thrown by the other side.As soon as they have collected the ball they must sprint back with the ball in hand past the starting cone.The coach decides which player makes it back first and awards their team one point.

Split the group into teams of 5. One team throwing the ball around posts. One team running around the posts. The ball starts by the batting square and has to be thrown to post one then 2 then 3 then 4 then back to the batting square. The running team have to run and tag. The first player in the batting square has to run to tag 1st post player this player has to run to release the player at 2nd post etc until the player on the forth post is tagged and runs back to the batting square. Start again when ball and players are back in position again. Best of 5 runs.
