Hoop Hit Warm Up

Mark out a 12m track with cones. Players work in 3's with 1 hoop. Each player stands 2m apart. Player A hits the soft ball with their hand through the hoop (held by B) to C. This continues with all players moving positions i.e. C hits through hoop held by A to B until they reach the end of the 12m track. Repeat drill on return.

Using a set of cricket wickets or posts. Roll the ball along the ground to a team mate. You can run with the ball, but the ball must be rolled along the ground. Aim to hit the stumps (approach from any side of the square)in the opposition square, using an underarm flick. The square is made up of cones, distance 5-8 metres from the stumps.No fielders at any time are allowed inside the square. The ball is never out of bounds, as there are no boundaries.

Players must sprint along the longer sides of the rectangle and then perform dynamic stretches along the shorter sides. Players can either complete a set number of laps or must continue to work for a set period of time.

Divide your players into two equal teams, one team fields while the other team bats.The coach bowls the ball (underarm) to the batter who must catch the ball before then underarm throwing the ball into the field, instead of hitting the ball.If a batter drops the ball they can only run to first base.In order to get players out the batters can be stumped or caught out.

For this practice the players need to be in groups of 4 / 5 with one ball. The players should throw the ball across to the other line and follow the ball to go to the back of the opposite line.

Set up in teams of 6.Players stand diagonally opposite each other about 2 metres apart. The area that the players are working in should be approx 25 metres long.Player 1 has 3 balls (tennis or rounders), and passes them underarm one at a time to player 2 to catch, and so on.Once they have released all 3 balls they can then run on the outside of their line in time to receive a ball from player 6.The rest of the team do the same.The aim is to reach the end of the area without dropping a ball.Once they have reached the end of the area work back in the opposite direction.

The player at the front of the 2 players runs to the middle to collect the ball on the cone and roll it to the player on the opposite side. This player collects the ball and runs to the middle to put the ball on the cone. The next player then runs to collect the ball and rolls the ball for next player waiting.

In pairs 1 ball between them Set out the varying distances with lines of cones. These distances should vary according to the ability of the player. ( the above is a guide line) Players need to throw a different way depending on the distance the ball has to cover. This is a great practice to teach players what the purpose is of the varying ways of throwing the ball.

In 3&rsquo;s. 2 feeders and one worker. Feeder one feeds the ball by rolling it along the ground to land in-between the cones where the worker starts from. Worker picks up the ball and gives it in one movement back to the feeder. They then turn and receive the ball from feeder 2 who does the same. This drill can be used with a short pick up or an underarm catch and release. 19b Slow motion of 19

4 batters and 4 feilders. Player self hits the ball between the 1st and 2nd post (cones) all fielders have to remain on the out field until the ball is hit. The batter has to try and run around 1st post and back to the batting cone to score a rounder. The fielders are trying to score a point by touching the batting cone with the ball before the batter does

Set up: Pitch marked out in the same shape as a normal rounders pitch with cones 6m apart. Split players into two small teams (no more than 5v5). Use a size 4/5 size sponge/plastic ball Rules: The bowler throws the ball underarm with a bounce from the bowling box to the batting box. The batter can hit the ball with any part of their body. Once the batter has hit the ball they then run around the 4 bases. They can stop at any base. The fielders then field the ball into the bowler to stop the batter from running on. Gradually more rules are introduced once the principles of play have been learned.

Split the group into teams of 3 or 4 aside set out an area with cones where the posts would be on the pitch. one ball. The game follows netball rules and is played inside the area. The aim of the game is to throw the ball to one of your players by one of the posts for them to touch the post without having to run.

Players work in groups of four. With one feeder and one fielder stood on a post, with another two players backing up behind the post player, in a triangle formation. The fielder throws the ball to the post players for them to catch. Every time the ball is thrown the backing up players should get behind the post player, ready to stop the ball in case the player misses the catch. After 10 throws each players rotate in a clockwise direction.

Players work in groups of 5, in a grid with 5 cones set up in a zig-zag formation, roughly 7 metres apart.Each player stands on a cone. All players, except for those queueing behind the first cone require balls.On the coach's call player 1, on the first cone, aims to get to collect the ball that has been dropped from shoulder height by the player on the cone in front of them, before the ball bounces twice.This is one pick-up.Player 1 then gives the ball back to the player on the cone, and sets themself before the coach gives the next call.Again the working player aims to get to the next ball before second bounce.This process is repeated until all players have performed 4 pick-ups.

Plan a session for 10-11 year olds (rounders)

I am trying to plan a session for 10-11 year olds in rounders. They are new to the sport. I want to make sure they learn skills as well as have progressions, any ideas? I am also struggling to fit it into the sessionplan template. Help x

Is it okay as a batter, to sprint to first base and knock it over rather than slowing down to place your bat on the post gently? You would obviously pick it up and then remain in contact so long as you haven't turned the corner to make for second base. This would also help the umpire to see who got there first.
