Throw to hit the post

Split the group into teams of 3 or 4 aside set out an area with cones where the posts would be on the pitch. one ball. The game follows netball rules and is played inside the area. The aim of the game is to throw the ball to one of your players by one of the posts for them to touch the post without having to run.

This is a hit throw and follow exercise. One player by each post and one deep fielder. The rest of the players stand behind the line waiting their turn to bat. One player starts the practice by hitting the ball towards the deep fielder. The deep fielder has to catch or gather the ball and throw the ball to the nearest post player who has to touch the post with the ball after which the post player throws the ball back to the next player in the batting square. Rotation the player that hit the ball runs anywhere into the field to be the next target. the previous fielder has to run to the post they threw the ball to and the post player goes to the back of the line of waiting players.

This Drill is fun and will improve the accuracy of the players throwing the ball to a post in rounders.2 teams lots of tennis balls and a larger ball (football).The aim is for the players from within their area to try to roll the football to the other side by throwing the tennis balls against it.

When the ball is hit into the right field between the 1st post and the back line. it is important that fielder 4 tries to gather the ball and player 5 covers this fielder in case player 4 misses it. At player 1  runs to 2nd post and player 2 runs to 4th post. covered by player 8 and 9 respectively. This will give the fielder gathering the ball the option of throwing to 1st post if ball was hit short to 2nd post if ball was hit long and to 4th post if the ball was missed and picked up by covering fielder or miss throw to 2nd post.

For this practice you need 8 players per group. Set out 4 cone in a square about 5 metres apart. Set out 2 flags a further 5 - 10 metres away from the square . and finally a finishing post. The race is for the runner to beat the ball being thrown via every gold player to the finishing post.

Players work in groups of four. With one feeder and one fielder stood on a post, with another two players backing up behind the post player, in a triangle formation. The fielder throws the ball to the post players for them to catch. Every time the ball is thrown the backing up players should get behind the post player, ready to stop the ball in case the player misses the catch. After 10 throws each players rotate in a clockwise direction.

The minimum players required for this practice is 5 4 cones or posts and 1 ball. The player start ting of with the ball (white 1) has to throw the ball to the red 1. Red one has to then throw via red 3 to the white 3 who has to touch the post with the ball. the aim for whit player 1 is to try and get to the post on the other side before the ball does. After each race the practice reverse and starts again going to opposite way

The fielder on the base, or any fielder, must attempt to get the batter 'out' by touching the base that the batter is running towards, before the batter reaches the base The fielder must have ball in control in their hand, and touch the base with the ball.

Split the group into teams of 5. One team throwing the ball around posts. One team running around the posts. The ball starts by the batting square and has to be thrown to post one then 2 then 3 then 4 then back to the batting square. The running team have to run and tag. The first player in the batting square has to run to tag 1st post player this player has to run to release the player at 2nd post etc until the player on the forth post is tagged and runs back to the batting square. Start again when ball and players are back in position again. Best of 5 runs.

One player starts outside the square with the ball the next player this player rolls the ball for the next player to runs out and gathers to throw the ball for the next player After each go it is important that the players return to the square.

See how many consecutive catches the Post fielder can take before he/she has to move or the ball bounces. If this happens put score back to 0. The fielder should be able to touch the post with the ball each time without moving their feet. This can be done against another group, i.e. first to 15 catches without Fielder moving away from the post.

Ball machine or bowler injects ball to batter who stands in batting box with a cone. The cone is used to deflect the ball backwards or the ball is missed and goes directly backwards. The backstop throws the ball directly to first base. First base stumps post and throws ball to bowler.

4 batters and 4 feilders. Player self hits the ball between the 1st and 2nd post (cones) all fielders have to remain on the out field until the ball is hit. The batter has to try and run around 1st post and back to the batting cone to score a rounder. The fielders are trying to score a point by touching the batting cone with the ball before the batter does

Players are on two posts. The ball is fed to the player on the first post who touches their base with the ball then throws the ball to the next base. This player touches the ball into the base and runs with the ball back to the feeder.

When the ball is hit behind the line the batter is allowed to run to the 1st post but is not allowed to continue to 2nd until the ball has crossed the line back into play. It is best that the backstop retrieves the ball and walks it back instead of throwing it back into play.

I hit the ball and get to 2nd base when 4th base is stumped, I then run onto 4th post before the bowler receives the ball in the bowling square. What score do I receive?
