Throwing Rounders Conditioned ...

Split your players into two teams. The fielding side will need a bowler, a back stop and a player on first base. The rest of the fielders can stand where they like.This game start with a bowl to the hands of the first <em>batting </em>player. The batting player should stand with open hands and catch the ball before throwing it into the fielding area.After throwing the ball out the batting player runs around as many bases as they can.Rules:Players score a point for their team for every complete run they make. Players can be caught or run out in the normal manner.Each player has two goes each before the teams swap around.

Collect, Turn and Throw Skills...

Players take it in turns to run out to the rolling ball, bend down, pick it up and then turn and throw it back to their partner. When picking up the ball players should aim to put their non-throwing side foot on the outside of the ball. A right-hander would place their left foot to the outside of the ball. They would then bend down, twist as they stand up and then throw back.

Simple throw and run race, from the starting cone to the finish cone (drill is ended when a player stumps the cone).Teams of 4 (or more) players stand in a line, with the first player with the ball in hand. On the coach's call the first player turns and throws the ball to the next player.Once the ball has been thrown this player runs to the back of the line, awaiting their next turn to catch and throw.The winning team is the first one to reach cone B.

Teams of 4 try and throw the ball across a pitch as quickly as possible, not missing any players out. The first team to throw the ball 10 times across the pitch is the winner.

If the ball is going diagonally it must be thrown underarm. If the ball is being thrown along one of the edges it must be rolled (flat or bobble feed). Players can choose where they throw the ball - they can either roll it square along the floor or they can throw the ball diagonally in the air.

In pairs 1 ball between them Set out the varying distances with lines of cones. These distances should vary according to the ability of the player. Set up a line of 3 balls 10 metres apart. Place a cone 10m from the first and last balls.Player A starts on the first cone and runs and picks up the first ball with 2 hands, assume the &quot;set throw&quot; position, and throws to player B on the other cone.Player B retreats 10m and puts the ball down.Repeat with the other 2 balls as above. Then your partner will throw back to you.Repeat the process.

This is a hit throw and follow exercise. One player by each post and one deep fielder. The rest of the players stand behind the line waiting their turn to bat. One player starts the practice by hitting the ball towards the deep fielder. The deep fielder has to catch or gather the ball and throw the ball to the nearest post player who has to touch the post with the ball after which the post player throws the ball back to the next player in the batting square. Rotation the player that hit the ball runs anywhere into the field to be the next target. the previous fielder has to run to the post they threw the ball to and the post player goes to the back of the line of waiting players.

Set up in teams of 6.Players stand diagonally opposite each other about 2 metres apart. The area that the players are working in should be approx 25 metres long.Player 1 has 3 balls (tennis or rounders), and passes them underarm one at a time to player 2 to catch, and so on.Once they have released all 3 balls they can then run on the outside of their line in time to receive a ball from player 6.The rest of the team do the same.The aim is to reach the end of the area without dropping a ball.Once they have reached the end of the area work back in the opposite direction.

The Drill: Players work in twos and start with the working player facing away from the feeder. When the feeder calls the name of the worker they should turn quickly and catch the ball. Once caught they throw the ball back to the feeder and repeat.

Set up: Players in the middle (players 2 and 3) stand back to back and opposite their partners (players 1 and 4), about 5 metres apart, but they gradually move further away up to a distance of 9 metres (this is distance from bowler to batter). Players are not allowed to move with the ball and are throwing underarm to their partner's waist.

If a batter reaches 2nd post and 3rd is stumped, but then the ball is throw and not caught by the bowler, can the batter continue her run to 3rd and 4th? Would she be out, would she score half, would she score a full rounder?
