DESCRIPTION

Simple Bowling technique drill. In pairs with 1 cone, 1 set of stumps and a cricket ball. Explain how to hold the ball and that bowlers should be in a side on position. For this drill, players will be starting in their side on, bowling position and to begin with simply rock back and forwards to simulate the weight transferal seen when bowling the ball in a full run up. To begin with, each player should have 6 bowls at the stumps whilst the other person acts as a wicket keeper. After 6, players swap so that player who bowled now wicket keeps and vice versa.

COACHING POINTS

Ensure players are using rocking technique and not running in. Players should follow through with their bowl to improve accuracy and pace. After each players has gone twice, Allow for a one step approach and then through to the rocking technique.
