Set up three traingles of cones approximately 10 metres apart. Place different colour cones 5 metres back from the outside cones of each triangle. You need footballs for this part of the exercise. Concentration & teamwork are essential to this exercise.
Begin by having each player on an inside (single) cone turn to their left and dribble to the spare cone in the next group along. Meanwhile the players remaining in their group turn and sprint to the cone behind them. Once there they check out and run to the next cone in their group. The player travelling with the ball passes to feet or lays off once the next player to go arrives at the inside cone. Timing & quality of pass are important. Similar rotation of players but this time the outside players start on the outside cones and attack their orange cones in front before moving off to the next cone in their rotation. The player travelling with the ball passes to feet or lays off once the next player to go arrives at the inside cone. Timing & quality of pass are important. Add a central cone that the long sprint players must attack before checking to their destination cone. Outside players should back up to their blue cone before sprinting back to their start point then sprinting round to the next cone. In this exercise the ball travels around the small triangles and is passed into the long sprint player as he is arriving into the triangle.
