Positional take up when ball played into the midfiled. ST: Drop into a hole between their midfield and defence to make sure we can press again if the ball gets back to their defenders AM: Stick with your player CM: Stick with your player. Wingers; drop into a position which makes any pass to theri wide players tough, being prepared to drop even deeper to suppor tthe full back if their strikers get the ball. Full backs. Both tuck right in, making the defence 4 tight, being ready to push out to your wide players if required. DM: Plit any lines between their midfield and forwards, being prepare to drop in and support the defence if their strokers drop deep looking for the ball or if our defence is pulled wide. CB's just get tight to your player and communciate with the DM if a stroker drops deep, do not get dragged, let the DM pick him up
- if we are fully set correctly from when their defence has the ball, it should be simple to get into position when their midfield gets the ball. - Communication is key here, being prepared to take responsability for your runners and not let them run off you, whilst also being prepared to pass a player on if he is dragging you out of psotion - Dicipline to your role, making sure you dont get dragged, if their team are moving into areas out of your position, let them as long as it is not causing a problem to our third of the pitch. - Patientce, do not dive in, keep the pressure tight to win the ball back quickly rather than diving into takcles which makes it easy for them to play. - Awareness, be aware of their markers movement and also your team mates positions so if we win the ball back quick we can also move it quick to break. - When we win the ball back, be brave, wingers and AM and even CM be prepared to break, support and even go beyond the forward to attack. Just work hard to get into position if the ball breaks down.
