The goalkeeper stands in between 2 cones with a ball on top of each cone. On the coaches call the goalkeeper rotates 180 degrees and faces the opposite direction. The coach makes the goalkeeper rotate his position frequently and then suddenly calls left or right. When the goalkeeper hears this call he must dive across to the cone and grab the ball from it. After completeing the save the goalkeeper must replace the ball back onto the cone and return to the middle position as quickly as possible. The drill continues on with the coach calling spin, spin, etc, making the goalkeeper rotate, ready for his next dive.
Agility Ability to rotate and dive quickly to make a save. Response and recovery. Variations Use two additional players and have them throw or kick the ball at the cone when the coach calls left or right. Bounce passes Place a cone between the outside cone and the goalkeeper to make the goalkeeper dive over it to get to the outside cone.
