Community | Defending as a Unit. 4v3

0488215312 Coach, England

DESCRIPTION

Using a 4v3 overload to attack and defend as a unit. The aim of the attacking team is to use the overload to get passed the defenders and score. The aim of the defenders is to remain as a unit, close the passing lanes and engage the attackers to recover possession. Then, if possible, play a pass out to the wide players/goals simulating a counterattack.

COACHING POINTS

Only the wide attacking players are allowed in the 2 flank zones, encouraging width and structure in attack. They score a point by scoring a goal. The defenders score a point for stopping the attack and a bonus point if they successfully complete a pass to one of the wide players/goals once recovering possession. Suggested additional rules for attackers. ~ Limit touches to 2 or 3 touch to encourage team play and link up. ~ Every player must touch the ball before scoring, again to encourage team play and link up.
