Handball: Cross the Border

This is the best handball site I have visited.

DESCRIPTION

Teams play to bring the ball behind the line.

Players are only allowed to pass the ball - absolutely no dribbling or no running with the ball allowed.

Defenders can win the ball back by blocking their opponents or intercepting the ball.

COACHING POINTS

After having caught the ball players should move the ball towards their body to protect it.

Ensure players put their correct foot in front (left handers right foot, right handers left foot).

When throwing the ball players' hands should pass their head at ear height.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Mini handball:

Two teams, each with goalkeepers, play across a half-court sized pitch.

Play with normal rules.

Passing game:

One player stands about 2-3 meters in front of the other players.

This player is the feeder for their group and passes to the other players.

Once a player has caught the ball from the feeder and passed it back, they run to the back of their own queue.

Attacking Pairs 2 - One-Two Pass:

Players go towards the goal in pairs.

Player 1 starts with the ball and passes to player 2. After passing they then sprint to the edge of the shooting circle, looking to receive the return pass.

Player 2 then runs on, looking to draw the defender towards them. Once the defender has been drawn away from player 1 they then play the pass giving player 1 the chance to shoot unopposed on goal.

Attacking Pairs - One-Two Pass:

Players go towards the goal in pairs

Player 1 starts with the ball and passes to player 2. After passing they then sprint to the edge of the shooting circle, looking to receive the return pass.
