Handball: Receive the Pass - Center shot - Hip height

DESCRIPTION

Feeder blue 3 passes the ball to blue 2 and he passes to blue 1 who shoots on goal using a hip height shot.

After the shot 2 and 3 change positions.

Although the keeper will know what's coming they should still attempt the disguise the shot.

COACHING POINTS

distance to opponent : arm length
arm lifted to shoulder height, backwards, height as if to make a normal center shot
hand should be sidewards, like you want to sweep the floor with the side of your hand
let go of the ball and point to the direction you want to throw it

PROGRESSION

Add a defender.

Defender acts as if to block the normal center shot by holding his arms high to give space for the shot at hip height.
Defender holds arms high OR low : attaquer has to make a choice : center shot normal OR hip height.
Defender is really active to prevent throwing.

Players dribble forward to the line (may also be a rope between two poles) and shoot at the goal with a center shot hip height.

Pass B1-B2-B1 who throws at the goal just under the arm of defender R1 who "helps" the attackers.

Finding the space - Hip height center shot:

Blue players take it in turns to dribble forward and shoot on goal.

However, there's 3 defenders in their way, so in order to make space for the shot players will have to shoot at hip height to avoid the defender's wide arms.

Backcourt low shot:

Pass B2-B2 (wing) back to B2 who throws at the goal. After the shot the attaquer becomes defender and the defender becomes attaquer. In the meanwhile ther is a shot on the right side.
