DESCRIPTION

Coach feeds high balls into random spots. Coach moves to one of the sides. Player hits an overhead into the open court.

COACHING POINTS

Awareness of the opponent is of crucial in tennis. It doesn't matter how well the ball is hit if the opponent is in the exact spot to return it.

Looking at the opponent right before the shot is a skill that has to be practiced. This exercise is a great opportunity to teach players how to focus on the opponent and on the ball.

PROGRESSION

To make it more competitive for larger groups, player can feed the ball and move to one of the corners of the court.

If the shot is hit into the side where the opponent is waiting, this player gets 1 point. If it is played into the open area, player hitting the shot gets 1 point.
