I help out at local skill teaching children from yr 1 to yr 7 the skills of hockey. I am always looking for fun mini games which encases all skill types. This is from non hockey to excellent hockey players.
my 3 favourites are
- Netball rules - no dribble no tackle - encourages passing and spacing
- 4 goals - one in each corner encourages holding possesion and switching sides
- limited zones - 3 zones attack, midfield and defense -players split between each so players dont bunch and move to support each other

we play as game called steal a goal, play with5/6 aside, both teams have 3 goals behind them on the base line, play normal hockey rules, but when the attaching team scores in the other side goals, the play who scores the goal, picks up the cone and places it on their line, this now mean the team who just scored the goal is now defending 4 goals, this helps both sides as children of this age all like scoring goals, you keep the game going until one team has all the goals behine them. this can be played on any size school yard.
this also helps the children play together, and work as a team.
