Defensive formation for a short corner

Defensive formation for a short corner

What is the recommended formation for a middle school level to set up for defense on a short corner, we play on grass.

Hi Kim.

In your case I would suggest a 1st & 2nd wave rush, postman and a player zone marking in line with right post and P-spot.

On grass you will rarely get a drag flick or a slip flick.

Any slip pass will be picked up by the 2nd wave but just ensure about a 2m gap between the rushing of the 1st and 2nd wave otherwise the 2nd wave gets beat too easily.

The P-spot/Post zonal will interrupt any cross pass or rebounds.

But all in all. A good goalie and a fast and skilled 1st wave is your best defense on grass.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Eric
