What are some effective and fun hockey games and drills for children aged 3-5? Also should I use a regular hockey ball or use something different to start out with?
Hi Kourtney
When starting out with total beginners, you can use bigger balls to allow them to get a feel for the skills and movements without such fine margins for error.
A great drill to use with kids is this dribbling drill. The practice allows the kids to get used to moving with the ball on the end of their stick and become comfortable with moving with the ball under control.
It also keeps every child in the action and they stay interested. This is most important when working with young children to ensure that they don`t lose their interest.
I hope this helps and good luck!
